IPL Photorejuvenation is an effective treatment for:

WHAT TO EXPECT

IPL is known as Intense Pulsed Light. IPL has many benefits which make it one of our most popular treatments because it gives an instant boost to the skin. The skin looks more vibrant, radiant, and rejuvenated.

The three main targets are reds, browns, and collagen.

These light-based technologies are unlike lasers, which go deeper into the skin. IPL can effectively target various superficial skin concerns at once. Targets include brown pigment (freckles, age spots, sunspots, liver spots) and redness (vessels, veins, flushing, rosacea, couperose, “broken capillaries”, spider veins, cherry angiomas, mottled skin, and uneven skin tone).

Collagen is also stimulated in an IPL treatment, which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as gives the skin a “healthy glow”. This effect is known as Photorejuvenation.

IPL Photorejuvenation can be used anywhere on the face or body and several areas can be treated in the same treatment session. It is very fast, efficient and comfortable treatment. IPL is better suited for fair-skinned clients versus clients with a darker skin type or tan. Clients will often send their friends who notice and comment on their “glowing skin”.

Frequently asked questions

What does IPL Photorejuvenation treat?

Age Spots Freckles Sun Damage Spider Veins Redness Rosacea (enlarged facial blood vessels) Large Pores Pigment Imperfections

How does IPL Photorejuvenation work?

IPL Photorejuvenation is Intense Pulsed Light that penetrates deep into the skin causing the collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness, age spots, dark spots and sun damage. The pigment imperfections then absorb the light and begin moving up and out of the skin. The spots turn into a coffee-ground-like substance and flake off, leaving beautiful, radiant skin.

How many IPL treatments do I need?

For best results, 3-5 treatments are typically recommended, about four weeks apart.

Where on the body can IPL Photorejuvenation be done?

IPL Photorejuvenation can be done on just about any body part. Below are some of the most commonly treated areas. Face Neck Chest Hands Shoulders Legs Arms

Is IPL Photorejuvenation painful?

Photorejuvenation would not necessarily be called painful. Patients liken the feeling to a rubber band snapping on their skin. The light from the laser is also quite bright, which may be uncomfortable for some with light sensitivity. At Skin Effect we provide the proper care to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible.

How long is the treatment?

The length of treatment is dependent on the number of areas being treated and the number of passes the aesthetician makes on the area.

How long do results last?

Photorejuvenation results perpetually improve over time, with best results being seen three months after the last treatment. Sun protection and skin care maintenance are essential to the longevity of the results. Sunburns and over exposure will bring back old spots and freckles and dullness will return if proper exfoliation during daily routines are neglected. A new series of treatments are recommended every year for optimal results.
